Hi I’m Matt, I’m a qualified level 3 personal trainer I’m also a certified Les Mills Body Pump,Body Combat,Body Attack and Grits series instructor. I’ve been a member of the Jh studio team for 18months after successfully completing my personal trainer qualification.
After training by myself since the age of 15 wether that was through personal work in the gym, group exercise or competing in a sport. I thought it was time to give something back to people so they can be a more confident, healthier, fitter version of themselves through my energy and enthusiasm. Whether your starting out on your fitness journey or a top athlete. I will set your goals and tailor them to suit you and your needs. After 8 years of fitness experience I have a wealth knowledge whilst also evolving and adapting to the ever growing industry.I will be there every step of the way to help guide and support you to reach your goals whilst also making the experience personal and enjoyable.
12 years experience in the fitness industry, I have a background in boxing, weightlifting and strength & conditioning. About 6 years ago I suddenly realised that I was overweight & totally unfit & it was about time I did something about it! I signed with a Pt & I started working properly at the gym, something I’d never done before despite being a member of a gym! I achieved good results & a year later stepped up to doing Bootcamp classes & really got to grips with improving my diet. I got very heavily into the Paleo Diet, it suited me and I found it easy to follow. Linking this with training hard, I dropped a serious amount of body fat. I found I liked the exercise, eating regime & how I looked and felt and wanted to help people feel the same way.
Three years ago I started training with Jaime and she encouraged me massively with my own training and looking into going back to college, a little daunting at my age! My children had reached an age where I found I had plenty of time for myself and my husband & I sold our business freeing up more time allowing me to follow my passion. So, under Jaime’s guidance I studied for my gym instructor and personal trainer courses which led me to where I am now. I now feel well placed to train a variety of clients, whether it’s for weight loss, fitness, toning or for a particular event, I find it really interesting to match relevant workouts to my various clients and their needs. No two scenarios are ever the same and that the beauty of the job. It hasn’t always been easy but if you set realistic stage by stage goals you can achieve anything you want! I have!!

I am able to provide an adapted and tailor made experience for every individual; whether you are new to the world of fitness just looking to test the waters, or maybe that triathlete looking to hit a specific event and excel at your best. I will work with you to create a programme which is specific to your fitness desires and needs.
I have trained with Jaime for some years now, I was instantly hooked when I decided to try one of her Les Mills Grit Strength classes. I have never come across another fitness programme that has; motivated, inspired and been so enjoyable all at the same time. The Les Mills programmes have had such a positive effect on my fitness journey, I was privileged when Jaime recently presented myself with the opportunity of joining the team as a Grit instructor. This opportunity has allowed me to drive and motivate others the way Grit has motivated me, I strive to share my fitness passion with others and hopefully inspire individuals the way Les Mills has inspired me.
Training and coaching at JH Studios has pushed me to new heights. I am a keen triathlete looking to make headway into gaining my own GB tri suit through entering into qualifying races and looking to advance to the full Ironman distance Triathlon before the end of 2018. I understand the dedication, determination and motivation fitness requires, myself and JH team are able to provide you with everything you need to get the most out of your fitness journey no matter how far along the path you are.
From my beginnings as a personal training client aiming to lose the university weight, to a level 3 personal trainer I have seen the process from both sides and all angles.
With over 5 years in the fitness industry I have gained an in depth and well rounded knowledge of all aspects relating to exercise and nutrition.
My in depth and advanced training includes, weight lifting, post op recovery (spinal decompression and fusion, hip and knee replacement) and advanced nutritional training. This enables me to tackle any health issue you may have and achieve every goal you can conceive. This may vary from sports specific training (Hockey, Football, Rugby or swimming) to endurance runs.
With 24 hour 365 days a year nutrition and exercise support your targets and goals will be achieved within your desired time frame.
